Alex Echo

Born in the USA and now living in the UK, Alex Echo creates complex and extraordinary works of contemporary art. Using a unique perceptive and palette to create inventive and informative compositions which combine his wide and deep knowledge of art history with references to popular culture. In 1980, Alex Echo opened his own gallery in Denver which he says to be "a great success, a super experience". Since, he has travelled the world, going from Paris to Amsterdam to Mystic, CT, before settling on the island of Lockport off the coast of New England.

His work has attracted the attention of many high profile collectors including HSH Prince Rainier of Monaco, Oprah Winfrey, Robert Downey Jr., Sir Paul Smith, Elton John, Madonna, Eric Clapton, The City of Los Angeles, MGM, Nike, AT&T. His style and technique is a melange of intricate brush strokes, bringing together the beauty and history of impressionism through a new technique and style. A clear feature in his work is the combination of vibrancy and softness along with the harmony of colours, light, movement and emotion creating a truly original depiction and striking visual narrative which lifts the spirit and mood of viewers. Alex Echo is an ever growing artist who has added new boundaries to the world of art. With an incredible appeal and a great sense of creativity, his work continues to attract new collectors. More recently, Sir Paul Smith has commissioned Alex Echo's work to create the principal pattern for the Women's Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. During the London Fashion Week 2010, "Classic With a Twist" was used to create a playful fabric which captivated the catwalk.

Alex Echo holds charities close to his heart, dedicated to the causes of AIDS care and literacy by displaying his work in galleries all over the world as well as featured in the Absolute Vodka's Absolu Artists of the Nineties. Directly from selling his work, Alex Echo has raised £300,000 for charitable organisations. In 2008 - 2009, Alex Echo sold 10 pieces at auction at the Wallace Collection in Manchester Square in London. The proceeds were then used to build an entire children's dormitory in China after an earthquake had destroyed the region. 

This year, Alex Echo will be racing in an Indian Tuk Tuk over 500Km through India for the benefits of the Elephant Foundation and their Royal Presidents HRH Prince Charles and the Dutchess of Cornwall. After the race, his Tuk Tuk will then be auctioned at Sotheby's London with all the proceeds to go to the Elephant Foundation.
