The final work in this series combines the ideas of the previous three paintings to suggest an aloof superiority in the face of hectic confusion, in an almost contradictory way. Reworked imagery, as suggested in ‘Someone to Fear’ shows a darker, more intimidating side to the main portrait. It also suggests another time in the life of the main subject. Still appearing outwardly carefree yet with a greater sense of burden, as depicted in the confused images as they fall further and further behind the female in question. This painting questions the initial idea of vacant celebrity and one dimensional appeal. It helps to suggest that perhaps we all will revert to the final deeper-thinking issues, preferring the opportunity to build a stronger and more heart felt relationship with the society in which we live. An important painting in this series ‘Flaunting fashion in the face of progression’ completes the story as a final destination yet suggests the possibility of further movement towards another understanding.
